Try the Stitch-and-Flip Method for Flying Geese

I use a stitch-and-flip method to piece Flying Geese units, adding triangles to two corners of a base rectangle by sewing along the diagonals of the squares. Just in case I haven’t sewn exactly along a diagonal, before flipping a triangle open, I trim only the top fabric layer (half the square), leaving a 1/4″ seam allowance. I leave the bottom layer (the rectangle corner) intact so the finished unit will be perfectly square.
