Consistent 1/4-Inch Seams
Seam allowance is key to ensuring consistency. If you’re not sure you have a correct seam allowance, cut three 1-1/2″-wide strips and sew them together. Press seams toward side strips and measure the center strip. If it is less than 1″ wide your seam allowance is too wide. If it is larger than 1 inch, your seam is too narrow. Adjust your seam allowance until the strip is a true 1 inch.
