		<description><![CDATA[Instead of prewashing fabric, cut a 2-inch square and drop it into a cup of boiling water. While still wet, spread the fabric on a white paper towel. If the paper towel stays white, the color won’t run. If the swatch still measures 2 inches square after it dries, the fabric won’t shrink.]]></description>

Then you’ll get seam allowances that are too narrow and pull apart, rows that are different lengths, and blocks that are totally different sizes. If your pieces don’t align after the first seam, trim everything down so all of the pieces are the same size before you proceed.<strong> </strong></p>
